At HomoCulture, we understand that many of you have not been able to hit up the malls lately because of COVID and we feel your pain – we really do! But now that the warmer weather is returning and winter lockdowns are falling by the wayside, now is the perfect opportunity to give your closet that overhaul it may desperately need. Now that we have survived a global pandemic, it is time to celebrate and reclaim the streets with your best fashion forward lewks. Of course, masks are still en essential accessory item that we should responsibly throw into the mix, but just consider them the cherry on top of your singular style. Now, let’s take a look at what’s trending for spring/summer 2021!

Go Utilitarian

It’s been trending for the last few seasons, and the utilitarian look may be here to stay, although it has been slightly revamped and updated for the current season. If you’re into the safari/military look, then there are more than a few collections out there to check out, including the always cutting edge Balmain, Dior, and Gucci, to name a few. And if your budget doesn’t allow for these luxury brands, know that there is always a vintage shop in your area that will have a few options you can purchase at a discount to achieve that ‘street fighter chic’ look.

Bring on the Bomber!

There is no season complete without a bomber jacket in it, and the fact of the matter is that every man should have at least one bomber jacket in his wardrobe, if not a few to cover all the seasons. In 2021, the classic aviator bomber jacket is coming back strong, with cropped and minimalist bombers claiming the top spots trend-wise. Choose from every color under the rainbow to fit your aesthetic, and you’re good to go!

Go Long and Wide!

We can all pretty much agree that skinny jeans have dominated the men’s fashion scene for quite some time, and now it’s time for another trend to have its day in the sun.

Enter the wide trouser.

Several notable brands have debuted their own version of pleated and draped trousers that are cut high and give off a retro vibe from yesteryear. If you feel like trying on something different and edgy, then this is a great place to start.

Bermuda is Back!

Although Bermuda shorts never truly ever go away, this season they are back with a vengeance, causing a scene across runways in all four corners of the globe. The latest iterations have been tailored to perfection and come in enough shades and variations to appease any style aesthetic. We advise shorts that run just above the knee and to pair with a great pair of sandals for the complete spring/summer look.

70s Style

One of the best eras for fashion was during the 1970s and in 2021, that unequivocal fact is being celebrated in a big way. Menswear these days has been feverishly throwing corduroy pants and jeans back into the mix and paired with killer aviator shades for the definitive 70s blinged out look that makes anyone stop and take notice. Dive right in, guys!

New Age Neon

It takes a bold man to pull off the brightness of neon, but if you date to, there’s plenty out there in 2021 to keep you busy throughout the entire season. From neon-hued bomber jackets to romper suits and socks and sandals that glare at you from concrete jungles, neon is the trend for the summer that is absolutely inescapable.

The 80s Vibe

The 80s were all about decadence across the board and this ‘go big or go home’ mentality transcended into the fashion as well. In 2021, the era is back in full effect, with oversized shirts and double-breasted suits returning in ways no one ever could have imagined. Get your shoulders ready to be tweaked and caressed this spring and summer!

The Acid, Queen!

If you’re the type that is constantly searching for hues that stop people dead in their tracks, then you can add some acid to your neon apparel too. The look has attacked the fashion scene in many new collections, including Tom Ford, Versace, and Fendi – think rich shades of chartreuse, magenta, burnt orange, and more. Of course, it’s not for everybody, but then again – do you really want it to be?!

Flower Power

No spring or summer look would be complete without a splash of floral prints to add to the mix and in 2021, Aloha prints are being reimagined in a new way. Think hibiscus patterns, bright floral prints, and abstract interpretations that are visually appealing, and instantly classic.
