Pears have a mild, sweet, and juicy taste. The Brûléed Pear Cocktail incorporates a spiced pear simple syrup that gives this cocktail a refreshing, smokey sweet flavor that a fall evening deserves.

The cocktail is easy-to-make and gives elementary and sweet hints of classic flavors and spices like lemon juice and cinnamon for those fall days you prefer something more potent. Rum adds that extra punch that gives this classic cocktail a unique, smoky flavor.

For the ultimate experience, sip the drink outside with crunchy fall leaves under your feet. Alternatively, try it around a bonfire with friends, or listening to your favorite fall jams. Regardless of how you enjoy it, soak in the flavors as you reflect on the markedly different 2020 summer.


  • 3 oz rum
  • 1 ½ oz spiced pear simple syrup
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice

Add ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass rimmed with cinnamon sugar. Garnish with a bruleed pear.

Spiced pear simple syrup: 

  • 1 pear, peeled and cut into slices 
  • 2 cinnamon sticks 
  • 4 whole cloves 
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Add ingredients to a saucepan. Simmer for five minutes. Strain the syrup through a strainer into a clean jar. Set aside to cool. Refrigerate for up to one week. 

Brulee pear: 

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar on a pear slice. Use a food-grade kitchen torch to melt the sugar. Cool completely.
