The Poinsettia is a festive, colourfully-tinted cocktail that is served around the holidays. Many variations of the Poinsettia cocktail have been concocted over time. The Poinsettia’s name likely comes from its red colour, which resembles the vibrant red petals of the Mexican indigenous plant, known as the poinsettia bracts.

Poinsettias are not only beautiful plants; they also have interesting historical connections! The plant’s history dates to 1828 when Joel R. Poinsett introduced it to the United States from Mexico. He was the and is also credited with introducing the plant into Christmas tradition.

Poinsettias were initially only grown for ornamental purposes, but in recent years they have become popular as an ornamentation for homes during Christmas. It has become a staple during this festive season, which makes sense considering how beautiful these plants look when they bloom.

The plant itself is an embodiment of everything that makes Christmas so magical: light and bright colours, a rich history, and above all else, pure beauty.

And just like the plant, the Poinsettia cocktail is a collection of all things Christmas. The rich red colour in the cocktail makes for an incredibly delicious drinking experience that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. The sweet taste provides a comforting warmth as you sip on this beverage after spending time with friends and family during this festive season.

Next time you make a cocktail, remember to include one of these festive flowers when you’re mixing up your drink—it’ll bring out the element of Poinsettias even more than usual.
